Get immersed in the hypnotic process of Batik Canting (Malaysian style of hand painted Batik) with the guidance of a Malaysian folk art Batik artist, Zariq. Through this 5 hours workshop, you'll learn how to apply wax and dye on fabric as well as to fix and wash your piece. You'll go home with a washable Batik piece that you can turn into anything you want. It's an entry level workshop suitable for all abilities. The materials and reference will be provided. The class size is kept small to ensure a quality engaging session.

It felt really comfortable and Zariq was incredibly welcoming. We got to work with really great materials and dyes, and had lots of opportunity to create pieces. It was lots of fun, thank you!

Latecomer
If a course has already started, please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
