This workshop will teach you the basic hand embroidery techniques of Japanese Sashiko. Meaning little stabs this style of embroidery has been traditionally used as a mending technique. In more recent times however, it has taken the crafting world by storm, often seen as a beautiful embellishment on clothing, bags and homeware.

During this session you will learn 3 traditional Sashiko designs and a little of the history behind this intricate technique. You will create 3 small samplers, enabling you to progress onto your own designs, or embellishing existing pieces.

Student testimonials:

Jess was a really friendly and knowledgeable tutor who was very patient and explained the various embroidery techniques really clearly. I felt very comfortable with her and looked forward to my lesson each week.

Our teacher Jess explained thoroughly what we were going to do and emphasised that we could work at our own pace which was very reassuring. She had put together all the materials we would need. Cannot recommend it highly enough. A lovely day.
