This course will focus on writing short stories and and flash fiction in a supportive group. We'll cover narrative structures, conflict, characterisation, point of view and the differences between stories and flash fiction (and it's not just length!) Over the course you'll learn how to edit, how to make readers fall in love with your stories and where can you find opportunities to send or share your writing. There will be prompts, writing exercises, discussion and written feedback. By the end of the course writers will have two pieces workshopped. Included in the costs are the extra time taken for the tutor to provide comprehensive feedback on two pieces of work per student.
As this is an online class you need a computer or tablet with Zoom and an internet connection. You will receive an email with a link to attend the meeting ahead of your first session.
Please note: All 10, and 12 week courses have a half term break in the middle. For term dates please visit our Contact us page. We are not open on bank holiday Mondays and any class that falls on these days will be made up at the end of term.

Latecomer
If a course has already started, please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
