Learn how to use photographic studio lights to achieve different styles of photographic lighting.
You will use use professional studio flash equipment and/or professional continuous lighting equipment, and learn how to set up and operate these to control the lighting for making portraits on film. We will try out different types of portrait lighting and will photograph each other. Feel free to bring one or two simple props, such as a hat or scarf if you want to.
During the afternoon we will develop the film - no prior experience needed.
We will also discuss budget alternatives suitable for a home studio set-up.
A communal camera and film will be provided for those who can't bring one (though you may be taking home individual negatives rather than strips). If you have a tripod it will be useful, but a couple will be provided.
No need to bring anything else, unless you want a hat or scarf etc for props.
Please note: All 10, and 12 week courses have a half term break in the middle. For term dates please visit our Contact us page. We are not open on bank holiday Mondays and any class that falls on these days will be made up at the end of term.

Latecomer
If a course has already started, please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
