Workshop with Jess Collins: Intro to Percussive Dance
Jess Collins is a London-born percussive dancer, musician and teacher. Her work is influenced by a broad range of percussive dance practices, which she blends together to form her own unique style, bringing her love of improvisation to a wide range of roots music. Dance has taken her to many parts of the world, and today her style is influenced by New Orleans jazz tap, Irish Sean-nós dancing, Lancashire clogging, Appalachian flatfooting, Canadian stepping and Indian kathak dance.
In this 1-hour percussive dance workshop, Jess will teach some basic percussive dance steps, with a focus on Québécois step dance. Following the workshop, you can stay for the Club Débris & Cri du Canard gig, and put what you’ve learnt into practice!
