Exceptional Canadian quartet The Slocan Ramblers have built a worldwide reputation as a storming live band, based on energetic performances and impeccable musicianship on banjo, mandolin, acoustic guitar and double bass. Winners of the International Bluegrass Music Association’s 2020 Momentum Band Award and the Canadian Folk Music Awards’ 2020 Traditional Album of the Year, they also received a prestigious JUNO Award nomination in 2019. Their fourth album Up The Hill and Through the Fog was released in June 2022 to glowing reviews, and blends bluegrass, folk and Americana to dazzling effect.
The band’s touring line-up consists of Frank Evans (banjo, vocals), Darryl Poulsen (guitar, vocals), Charles James (double bass, vocals) and Casey Campbell (mandolin). Campbell is filling in for founding member Adrian Gross, who’s currently on paternity leave). They’re all hugely skilled instrumentalists, with sparkling vocal harmonies adding to that classic bluegrass feel. Three previous UK tours have seen the Slocan Ramblers perform to sold-out rooms across the country, and after an enforced hiatus in 2020, the award-winning Toronto band is raring to return to these shores in autumn 2022.
“The band have gained an enviable reputation, creating an audaciously dynamic sound that, whilst firmly rooted in tradition, has never been afraid to push the envelope.” - Folk Radio UK
