This workshop will teach you the basic hand embroidery techniques of Japanese Sashiko. Meaning little stabs this style of embroidery has been traditionally used as a mending technique. In more recent times however, it has taken the crafting world by storm, often seen as a beautiful embellishment on clothing, bags and homeware.
During this session you will learn 3 traditional Sashiko designs and a little of the history behind this intricate technique. You will create 3 small samplers, enabling you to progress onto your own designs, or embellishing existing pieces.
Please bring with you scissors, optional needle threader and paper / pen should you wish to make notes. All other materials to create the wall hanging will be provided.
