A day-workshop taking you through essential skills of figure drawing, from a nude model. Suitable for beginners or those who need a refresher with professional support/guidance. You'll learn to see shape, proportion, light and shade more objectively, using various traditional drawing media and techniques. After everyone has 'got their eye in', the length of the poses will be varied. Bring your own drawing materials - see list.
Students should bring:
Several sheets of A3 and A2 white drawing paper, or an A2 sketch pad. (A2 sheets can easily be halved, to make A3 sheets).
An average pencil (e.g. HB, B).
EITHER a few sticks of charcoal - ordinary willow charcoal rather than processed charcoal OR: a 'fat/chunky' 2B graphite stick (not the plastic-coated, pencil-shaped type) OR both.
Masking-tape or drawing clips or bull-dog clips or Blutack.
Please note: All 10, and 12 week courses have a half term break in the middle. For term dates please visit our Contact us page. We are not open on bank holiday Mondays and any class that falls on these days will be made up at the end of term.

Latecomer
If a course has already started, please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
