In this workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of bookbinding and how to craft a unique book using the long stitch binding technique. Additionally, we will create an extended softcover that wraps around the book, adding both functionality and style.
The long stitch method is a straightforward and glue-free technique, where signatures are sewn directly into the cover, resulting in a durable and elegant design.
By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with their own hand-crafted book and the skills and confidence to continue creating more books at home with minimal equipment.
What this workshop covers:
- An introduction to the basics of long stitch bookbinding
- Folding, stacking, and pre-punching signatures in preparation for stitching
- Cutting and preparing an extended softcover that wraps around the book
Please bring:

Latecomer
If a course has already started, please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
