Learn how to make stunning light sensitive prints using silver gelatine darkroom paper. Discover how darkroom paper works and experiment with using analogue and digital technology to make your own unique prints. These can then be processed in diluted darkroom fixer to make them last longer. Lumen printing is a lesson in patience and light; a chance to take your time and notice subtle changes. At each stage we will note the changes that happen and learn to accept that we're not always in control of the creative process. This is a relaxed workshop where there will be time to talk to other members of the group and the tutor about photography, sustainable darkroom practices and how to use the darkroom.
This workshop is in the darkroom, it is very much a standing workshop and in a small space.

Everything will be provided but please feel free to bring along any objects you would like to experiment with during the day to cast interesting shadows.
Please note: All 10, and 12 week courses have a half term break in the middle. For term dates please visit our Contact us page. We are not open on bank holiday Mondays and any class that falls on these days will be made up at the end of term.

Latecomer
If a course has already started, please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
