Learn to upcycle garments to give them a new lease of life, making your wardrobe more sustainable. You will learn sewing techniques such as putting in a zip, using lace, creating embellishments, and how to adjust the length of an item professionally. Your tutor will work with you one-to-one to discuss your creative ideas and help put them into practice. There will be tutor demonstrations at the start of the workshop to guide you. Some experience with using a sewing machine is necessary for this workshop.
Please bring two garments of clothing you would like to upcycle in the workshop. If you do not have a garment, you could get one from the charity shop or practice on material swatches given by your tutor.
Please bring any materials you want to use when upcycling your garment i.e. beads, and fabric. All other materials will be provided.
Please note: All 10, and 12 week courses have a half term break in the middle. For term dates please visit our Contact us page. We are not open on bank holiday Mondays and any class that falls on these days will be made up at the end of term.

Latecomer
If a course has already started, please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
