Alex Patience is a landscape architect and living architecture specialist, having trained at the University of Sheffield, Alex's imagination was first captured by the prolific use of greenroof and greenwall systems whilst on an exchange at the University of Munich. Seeing previously under-looked roof and wall space as new opportunities for landscape design, Alex went on to work abroad for several years in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore for living architecture firms. Returning to the University of Sheffield to complete his Masters in landscape architecture, Alex has since worked in traditional landscape architectural firms and also on eco-build projects around the world, from Canada to Morocco, Spain and Morocco. After encountering a lot of unsustainable practices, and 'greenwashing' within the greenroof and greenwall industry, Alex decided to establish his own practice. Running his own Bristol-based greenwall and greenroof design and build outfit, Livegraft, now for 6 years, Alex has installed carbon-neutral greenwall and greenroof systems nationwide and several public facing projects within Bristol itself. When not amongst foliage, Alex enjoys travel, photography, music production and poetry.
