Ben is a self-employed musician and teacher who set up his teaching business from his bedroom in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1989 upon his return from one year studying guitar at the prestigious Musicians Institute in Los Angeles.
These days he plays and teaches a range of fretted-stringed instruments and piano.
He has worked across the music industry as a rock star, session musician, recording engineer, composer, arranger, producer, and concert promoter.
As a songwriter he has had his music playlisted on BBC Radio 1, including John Peel’s show.
Composition, songwriting, and improvisation have always been at the heart of Ben’s teaching. He has worked with numerous groups and ensembles covering these topics, as well as harmony singing and music technology.
Ben has taught music at all levels. He believes that music making and learning should be fun, and that it is a fantastic way to meet and quickly form life-long friendships with like-minded musicians.
Having recently relocated to Bristol, Ben is keen to immerse himself in the Bristol music scene, both as a teacher and performer.
