Understanding Humanism course at Folk House, Spring 2025
Bristol Humanists are a partner group of Humanists UK, and we are happy to be presenting this course.
Humanists are people who shape their own lives in the here and now. We make sense of the world through logic, reason, and evidence, and always seek to treat those around us with warmth, understanding, and respect.
Humanism is all about embracing the one life we have, understanding it as part of the natural world, and finding meaning and happiness for ourselves and others.
In this course we will be deepening our understanding of ourselves, our world and the universe as entirely natural phenomena without a supernatural dimension. We will be looking at humanism’s long history, the natural evolution of ethics, and the celebration of key moments in our lives through humanist ceremonies.
