Like everyone, Janne began singing as a baby, then something happened … she lost her ability to be joyful through her voice. Echoes of ‘be quiet’, ‘stand at the back and mime’, made her believe she had no voice.
Then in 2000 she found her voice working with Frenchman, Gilles Petit, who developed his own way of being in relationship with the purity of sound using the Indian Raga or scale as a palate for voice development.
Later she trained as a Natural Voice Practitioner with Frankie Armstrong, the inspirational woman who founded the Natural Voice Network. Working with Frankie gave Janne not only the skills, but the courage to allow her voice to be heard.
Other influences are The Roy Hart Theatre based on the work of Alfred Wolfston, and more recently she fell in love with Collaborative Vocal Improvisation (CVI) she uses some of these forms to gently coax and guide us back to our authentic voice opening up a whole new musical window.
Janne believes wholeheartedly that it is our birthright to sing and that everyone can. That’s why she ‘Dares you to Sing’ !!
