Guten Tag!
Rita is a native German speaker who first came to Bristol after finishing College in southern Germany. Her first professional role in adult education was at a small north Bristol College teaching a City and Guilds course in Electronics Servicing.
After five years in the UK she returned to Germany, where she, among other jobs, combined her technical and language skills to proofread, translate and write a variety of documents for companies and individuals. She worked on advertising material, technical documents, training manuals, CVs and business communication. The predominant languages here were German and English, with occasional use of French and Spanish in the translation of plant operating instructions.
In 2001 she welcomed an opportunity to learn more about mechanics while working in a London based motorbike shop, turning a hobby into work.
She has now put down roots in Bristol again and lives here with her family. She started teaching German at the Folk House in 2017, both at Beginners Level and Conversation.
As well as teaching here at the Folk House she has been working at the German Saturday School where German speaking children can meet and mix with others like them and are taught German literacy along the way.
