Using a simple but effective patchwork technique called log cabin you will sew what will become the front of the cushion cover, learn basic hand sewing quilting techniques and then learn how to construct it into a cushion cover.
Some familiarity with using a sewing machine would be useful but if you are new to sewing this is an enjoyable and not too complicated project to achieve for a beginner.
The workshop is stand alone but also a good taster if you are interested in patchwork before signing up to the 6 week learn to make a quilt course.
You will need to bring:
1/2 meter of 2 different fabrics (contrasting colours work well for this technique) .
You will want to use fabric without stretch so cottons and linens are ideal.
A piece of fabric large enough for the back of your cushion cover
Fabric scissors and small scissors (if you have them, if not there will be a couple of pairs to share)
A cushion you'd like to re cover (ideally in the range of 40x40cm to 60x60cm)
Please note: All 10, and 12 week courses have a half term break in the middle. For term dates please visit our Contact us page. We are not open on bank holiday Mondays and any class that falls on these days will be made up at the end of term.

Latecomer
If a course has already started, please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
